The award winning, Hanoverian Breeding Farm, Dreamcatcher Meadows, is looking for an individual to work under their Breeding Manager as an Equine Breeding and Young Horse Specialist to assist in the management, promotion, and expansion of their breeding program. Preference given to candidates with Embryo Transfer Experience.
-Managing stable management and healthcare of all livestock with specific responsibility for breeding stock (nutrition, general husbandry, hoof care, veterinary care, etc).
-General organization, implementation, delegation and oversight of tasks to staff
-Managing foaling season (foal watch schedule, mare care, coordinating veterinary visits, etc).
-Semen collection, residential artificial insemination of broodmares, processing and shipping of semen to clients and management of stallions during breeding season
-Under Breed Manager supervision, managing and implementing embryo transfer program including donor and recipient care
-Operation of Agricultural Machinery; experience with breeding operation machines such as semen processing, etc an asset.
-Daily Young horse handling and training. Opportunities for participating in competitions available but not necessary. Handle youngstock from birth to ridden stage, focusing on starting under saddle through to presentation in competition with view to sale. Must have established skills all facets of young horse training including initial handling such as leading, handling for blacksmith, clipping, braiding, show preparation, ground handling such as lunging and long-reining, initial saddling and mounted work, trailer loading, show management and competing, presentation for official Hannoveraner inspections and performance tests, presentation on ground and under saddle to prospective purchasers.
-Marketing of breeding services including promotion of semen sales in coordination with marketing specialist. Social media contribution.
Terms of Employment: Full-time, live-in position. Travel for competitions is not mandatory.
Wage: Starting at $33,000.

Commissions on top for all sales, rates vary (minimum 5%, maximum 25%) depending on types of goods sold.
After achieving standards taught by Manager, demonstrate ability to prioritize daily, seasonal and unanticipated tasks – without supervision. Optimistic general attitude with proven ability to be part of and lead team with positive incentive. Ability to identify and address staff, customer and business challenges; resolving same with practical, encouraging guidance.

Education: Minimum High School Diploma
Work Experience: 5+ Years in the Equestrian Industry, 2+ Years specializing in the Equine Breeding Industry or related field (bovine, young horse, etc)
