Trail Guide

Website Glen Oro Farm

Hi everyone! Glen Oro Farm is looking to add some new Trail Guides to our team. This position is for someone that can handle responsibility, work alone or as part of a team, and can wear several different hats: You will be responsible for leading small group (approx. 1-6 guests) on trail rides (We are not looking for staff for anything related to hunter jumpers/dressage/showjumping/eventing in general). It is essential that you are a good people person as you will have to talk for 2 hours at a time to the guests and teach basic horsemanship as well as be able to entertain with facts about horses and the area you’re riding through. You must also be confident in your skills as you will be on your own, responsible for the safety and well-being of the humans and the horses under your charge. During the high season, you may be doing 2-3 rides in a day, about 3-5 hours in the saddle each day. When you are not leading rides, you will be responsible for riding, conditioning, training the horses used for the trails. You will also help the farm staff and pitch in when needed with chores, which can include mucking stalls, feeding, watering, cleaning tack, cleaning the barn, haying etc. We run a Glamping Eco-Retreat where guests often come to stay and experience life in the country, and take advantage of the ability to ride a horse – quite a few beginners or people with limited experience, but are keen to become acquainted with horses. The position will be seasonal to start, but could be extended into a permanent position for the right person. You can have a look at everything we do by visiting our website or cruising through our instagram @glenorofarm.
