Season: Spring–Fall (start date ASAP, exact end date flexible)
Compensation: Hourly wage based on experience
About Us:
Old Orchard Farm is a busy and welcoming riding school located in the scenic countryside of Moffat, Ontario. We offer lessons year-round to riders of all levels and host regular schooling shows and clinics throughout the season. Our facility includes indoor and outdoor arenas, barns, turnout paddocks, and extensive grounds that support a high standard of care and presentation. We’re currently looking for a reliable and hardworking individual to join our team as a seasonal Grounds Maintenance Worker to help keep the farm looking its best during our busiest months.
Position Overview:
The Part-Time Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Worker will assist with the general upkeep and care of the farm property, focusing on outdoor tasks to maintain a safe, functional, and attractive environment for horses, riders, and guests.
Key Responsibilities:
Mowing lawns and trimming around buildings and fence lines
Dragging arenas and maintaining riding surfaces
Assisting with fence repairs and general property upkeep
Weeding, garden maintenance, and basic landscaping
Cleaning and organizing outdoor spaces (e.g. show rings, parking areas)
Assisting with show-day setup and takedown as needed
Operating equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and small tractors
Pool maintenance (skimming, chemical balance checks, cleaning filters, etc.)
Assisting with hay deliveries and stacking hay in lofts
Supporting the team in keeping the property safe, clean, and tidy
Qualifications:
Previous experience in grounds or farm maintenance preferred
Comfortable using basic maintenance tools and equipment
Reliable, hardworking, and detail-oriented
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
Interest or experience in an equestrian environment is an asset
Basic knowledge of pool maintenance is an asset (training can be provided)
Must have reliable transportation to and from the farm
