Fantastic opportunity for energetic knowledgeable riding professional. Windridge has a tradition of tennis, soccer and horseback riding and so much more for over 50 years. Located in the Green Mountains of Vermont, the Windridge Tennis and Sports Camps stand unique in that we feature specialized sports programs within the framework of a traditional New England camp setting. Since 1968, children have come to Windridge from most of the fifty states and many foreign countries to share in the Windridge experience. Our campers make a commitment to hard work, good sportsmanship, and wholesome fun and laughter. We offer 2 and 3-week co-ed sessions from June through August, serving ages 7–15-year-olds.
We are looking for a Director to manage our 23-26 horses, lessons, barn, and about ten counselors and barn support staff.
This is a seasonal position from June 10th – August 17th. Salary (based on experience), travel stipend, room, and board all included. Tuition included for camp age children.
Desire and ability to develop and implement a high-profile riding program
-Training or experience in equine science and horsemanship; equine science degree or
– Previous supervisory experience
-Current or past British Horse Society, Pony Club, American Riding Instructor, or
Certified Horsemanship Association certifications or training
-Teaching qualification and/or experience and the ability to teach riding to campers and
-Ability to identify ill health in horses and make recommendations for treatment
-Knowledge, ability, and experience administering veterinary medicine
-Ability to oversee the setup of the barn and riding areas
-Knowledge of equine nutrition and feeding
– Ability to supervise riding program staff and make scheduling assignments
-Ability to train staff in proper teaching techniques
– Desire and ability to work with children outdoors
-Ability to relate to people of a variety of ages
-Ability to accept guidance and supervision
