Overview
We are a mixed agricultural operation located in Kelowna, BC, encompassing sport horse breeding and training, equine boarding, and the raising of cattle and poultry. We are seeking an experienced Agricultural Manager to plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the full scope of our farm and livestock operations. Reporting directly to the owners, this role is responsible for all aspects of animal husbandry, staff supervision, facility maintenance, and the day-to-day management of a working agricultural enterprise.

Languages: English (required)
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. An equivalent combination of technical training and hands-on experience in agricultural or livestock operations will be considered in lieu of post-secondary education.
Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience managing a mixed agricultural operation, equine facility, or livestock farm, including 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience.
Work setting: Mixed agricultural operation; equine, cattle, and poultry; sport horse breeding and training; rural area; on-site staff accommodation available.
Responsibilities — Tasks
• Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the operations of a mixed agricultural operation including equine, cattle, and poultry
• Oversee all aspects of animal husbandry including daily care, feeding, health monitoring, and breeding programs for sport horses, cattle, and poultry
• Manage the sport horse breeding program including foaling, foal care, registration, and preparation of horses for sale or training
• Oversee equine boarding, training, and client services operations
• Plan and direct maintenance, repair, and upkeep of farm infrastructure including stalls, paddocks, fencing, pastures, barns, and mechanical equipment
• Hire, train, schedule, and supervise farm staff, barn staff, grooms, and working students
• Manage procurement and inventory of feed, bedding, veterinary supplies, and farm inputs
• Develop and implement biosecurity, herd health, and vaccination protocols in consultation with veterinarians and farriers
• Maintain accurate records related to animal health, breeding, production, client accounts, and farm operations
• Ensure compliance with BC animal welfare regulations, WorkSafeBC requirements, and agricultural industry standards
• Perform general farm and stable duties as required
Supervision: 3 to 5 people — farm staff, barn staff, grooms, working students
